Civic Field Trip is a guided experience that helps everyday people attend local government meetings with confidence, clarity, and community.

What Is Civic Field Trip?

Civic Field Trip is a group-based, low-stress introduction to local government meetings. We:

Review the agenda before the meeting
Attend the meeting together
Debrief after so it actually makes sense

No jargon. No judgment. No pressure to speak. Just support, context, and community.

How it Works

Agenda Meeting
(Pre-Meeting)

Before the meeting, we meet virtually or in person to:

Translate the agenda into plain language
Explain who’s who and how decisions get made
Flag what’s important—and what’s just procedural noise
Answer nervous first-timer questions (all are welcome)

Attend the Meeting Together

We show up as a group.

You can observe quietly
You can take notes
You can leave early if you need to
You are never expected to speak

Your only job is to be present.

Post Meeting Debrief

After the meeting, we regroup to:

Talk through what actually happened
Decode confusing moments
Name power dynamics you might not have noticed
Answer questions about procedures or verbiage
Discuss next steps - or decide that awareness alone was the win
